An Interface Based on Hyper Reality for Virtual Mockups

Project supported by CNPq (grant 485437/2007-4) and UFPB

(2008-2009 - concluded)

Hyper Reality (HR) can be defined as the technological capability of join intelligence, virtual reality and physical reality. The Hyper Reality project involves the development of a hyper-realistic environment to virtual campus in which the user can interact with the reproduction virtual of the real environment and modify the reality. This modification happens through the virtual mockups without the necessity of the dislocation to the physical place. Thus, the system will should support the communication with physical devices that will be able to be operated remotely through the management of user actions.

The project includes the support to several services, as access to real and virtual laboratories, collaborative work, supervision, control and distance learning. Several researches and development in our group have been conducted in order to achieve the several requirements of a hyper reality interface and provide content to be accessed from virtual mockups. This integration of services with the virtual model should allow an intuitive interaction of the user with the virtual components and real devices for remote manipulation.

The case study was implemented for the campus of Federal University of Paraiba at João Pessoa. The architecture proposed integrates an interface able to deal with several contents and adaptable to different contexts.
